These tests could enable the comeback of public events, such as sports competitions, concerts and travel, which are currently almost completely shut down because of their high risk of virus spread. Combined with the use of masks, rapid testing of people involved in these activities could bring back to life almost-decimated sectors while minimizing the spread risk at the same time.
Several countries have already begun countrywide testing, while the new U.S. administration has named rapid testing as a priority.
