American Fusion (OTC: AMFN) announced continued progress in development and testing of its proprietary Texatron(TM) Fusion Engine(TM), reporting repeatable magnetic-confinement testing with peak confinement pressures of approximately 100,000 atmospheres. The company is developing the Texatron(TM) around short-duration electromagnetic pulses intended to simultaneously create the plasma temperature, pressure and density and confinement time required for deuterium-helium-3 (“D-He3”) fusion. Its next objective is to further develop and characterize these conditions as it works toward fusion ignition and, ultimately, net energy gain.
American Fusion also reported calculations comparing its 11-inch, approximately 500 kW development model with a 23-inch, approximately 5 MW model. Under equivalent assumed plasma conditions, the larger configuration has approximately 8.36 times the modeled plasma volume and could theoretically support approximately 8.36 times the D-He3 reactions and gross fusion energy per pulse. The company emphasized that these figures are calculations rather than measurements of actual fusion output, net energy gain or continuous electrical output and that significant scientific and engineering work remains before ignition or net energy gain can be demonstrated.
