Energy Fuels (NYSE American: UUUU) (TSX: EFR), a leading U.S. producer of uranium and rare earth elements, announced progress on its heavy rare earth oxide (HREE) production at the White Mesa Mill in Utah—the only commercial U.S. facility currently producing HREEs from mined ores. The Company expects to complete its first kilogram of dysprosium (Dy) oxide this month, with pilot-scale terbium (Tb) and samarium (Sm) oxide production to follow by early 2026. With minor upgrades, full commercial output could begin by Q4 2026, using feedstock from current operations or as early as Q4 2027 from the Company’s Donald Project in Australia. The Donald Project contains high concentrations of xenotime, a rich source of HREEs, and is projected to meet a substantial share of U.S. demand. CEO Mark Chalmers emphasized the strategic significance of domestic HREE production for U.S. manufacturers, including future supply potential from projects in Madagascar and Brazil.
